White whale imitates human speech

After a thorough examination of the recordings of the voice of a Beluga whale, scientists claim that the White whale produces sounds similar to that of human speech. According to the scientists' findings that are reported in the Journal of current Biology, the whale was deliberately imitating humans and trying to communicate with them.

Dr. Sam Ridgway, the President of the National Marine Mammal Foundation where the whale lived said: "Whale voice prints were similar to the human voice and unlike the whale's usual sounds. The sounds we heard were clearly an example of vocal learning by the white whale."
