Motorway built around a house in China
A new four lane highway has been built around a building in eastern China, after a family refused to move out. According to China's law, it is illegal to demolish a property without agreement.
The residents will soon enjoy thousands of cars speeding past their house every day.
Zhang Ling, 46, who lives in the house, said that his family is planning to open up a drive through shop on the ground floor.

A team of eight people managed to descend into the Gorner Glacier near Zermatt in Switzerland last month.

Adventurer Jonathan Trappe plans to cross the Atlantic ocean with his balloon house
Inspired by the animated movie "Up", 38-year-old Jonathan Trappe created a house with 365 helium-filled cluster balloons attached to it. Jonathan launched his balloon house into the sky, at the Leon International Balloon Festival in Mexico.
He is very ambitious, as he is planning to fly across the Atlantic ocean next year.

Man who fed a sausage roll to a police horse faces court
Francis Kelly ,41, was arrested for trying to feed a police horse a sausage roll. The incident took place in Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow, on 26 September this year.
Prosecutors claim that he behaved in a 'threatening or abusive manner'. Mr Kelly, who denies the charge, will stand trial in February.

Various studies have indicated that chickens can learn basic mathematical skills as well as they have good memories.
JJ, a clever chicken who was rescued from a battery farm has learned to count. The video below shows the owner Helen Jones, thrusting a card in front of JJ who pecks it the corresponding number of times.
JJ can now count up to seven and as Helen said: ''We hope to have her counting to ten by Christmas!''

Tornadoes in Japan captured on camera
Two tornadoes were captured on camera in the Wakayama and Ishikawa Prefectures in Japan.
One of the tornadoes was filmed from a helicopter. According to the meteorological agency, the tornado lasted about 10 minutes.

A US woman forced to hold 'idiot' sign for driving offense
In September, Shena Hardin was caught on camera driving her vehicle on a sidewalk to avoid a Cleveland school bus that was unloading students.
Cleveland Municipal Court judge ordered Hardin to stand at an intersection holding a sign warning people about idiots for one hour last Tuesday and Wednesday.
The sign reads: "Only an idiot would drive on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus".

Pregnancy test joke leads to cancer diagnosis
A comic post on the social news website Reddit, may have saved one man's life.
An anonymous user posted a story about his friend, who jokingly took a pregnancy test and got a positive result. However, a reader posted a comment advising the man who took the test to visit a doctor, for the reason that a pregnancy test can also be a cancer indicator.
The man took the advice seriously and visited his doctor, who found a small tumor on his right testicle.
According to the National Institutes of Health, pregnancy tests detect the amount of the hormone beta human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in an individual's urine which can be associated with testicular cancer.

Parrot uses tools to snatch his food
A clever cockatoo called Figaro, has become the first known parrot to make and use tools. Researchers have been amazed by his ability to figure out how to modify and use a tool to get his food.
In the video that follows, Figaro grabs a stick and cuts it so as to determine the appropriate size, and then he uses it to retrieve a nut placed out of his reach.

Zac Vawter climbs Chicago's Willis Tower with bionic leg
Zac Vawter, a 31-year-old amputee who lost his right leg in a motorcycle accident, has become the first person to climb 103 floors of a skyscraper with a bionic leg.
Zac made his achievement at an annual charity event, called SkyRise Chicago. It took him around 45 minutes to scale 2,100 steps to the top of Chicago's Willis Tower.

An area of Johannesburg, South Africa known as Alexandra, is facing giant rad problem.
In an attempt to find solutions to the problem, the city officials made a strange offer to the residents: ''Bring in 60 rats and you'll get a new mobile phone''.
Resident Joseph Mothapo, who has won two phones so far and plans to get one for each member of his family, told the South Africa’s Mail & Guardian newspaper: ''It's easy.You put your leftover food inside and the rats climb in, getting caught as the trap door closes.''

Turtle escapes from an Anaconda attack
Photos taken by the French photographer Jean-Michel Labat in Los Llanos, Venezuela, show an Anaconda wrapping itself around a turtle.
The turtle was able to resist due to its strong shell. Eventually, Mr. Labat intervened and helped it to escape.
As he said, ''he found it all fascinating to watch at first but then he realised it was going to end badly for the turtle and he had to step in, as it became clear that it would drown if he didn't do something''.

Sheepdog sold at auction for £8,400
A 18-month-old black and white sheepdog called Midge, was sold for a record £8,400
at an auction which took place in Yorkshire last Friday. The buyer was Suffolk shepherd, Eddie
Thornalley, Worlington.
Midge showed great skills at the auction site, even though she has been
trained for just three months.
According to the auctioneer, the previous record price was £6,000 at a sale
in 2010.

Incredible: Shark falls from the sky!
Golfers at San Juan Hills Golf Club in California were stunned
when a two-pound leopard shark fell from the sky in front of them.
It appears that the
shark was snagged from the Pacific Ocean by a bird, and then dropped on Golf
Club.
The shark was bleeding but still alive, while a golf club employee rescued the fish driving it to a nearby beach.
